IMCT Coalition not against any country: Raheel Sharif
RIYADH: Pakistan’s former chief of the army staff general (retd) Raheel Sharif has said that the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCT) was not against any country rather to counter terrorist organizations in member states.
The former general said that a number of member states were under tremendous pressure to rid of terrorist organisations due to capacity shortages of their armed forces and law enforcement agencies.
The commander of the coalition said IMCTC would assist member states in capacity building through intelligence of their armed forces in their counterterrorism operations.
The alliance would mobilize, coordinate and facilitate the exchange of information and help member countries build their own counter terrorism force, Sharif said.
He added the Muslim world has been the worst sufferer of terrorism wherein more than 70 percent of all deaths attributed to terrorism had occurred in Muslim countries.
