UNDP lauds Fata’s teachers’ role in promotion of peace
October 05, 2017

ISLAMABAD, 5 October: Ignacio Artaza, Country Director UNDP Pakistan lauded teachers’ role, especially working in Fata, who invest their time and energy in nurturing a knowledgeable generation full of hope and tolerance.

In a statement issued here on World Teachers Day, he said that teachers were role models for their students in spreading love, peace and a positive national identity.

He said FATA’s teachers were tirelessly promoting learning and education for human development, peace and stability, often in challenging circumstances.

“Here and across Pakistan, they are essential to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4, which affirms teacher’s empowerment as a priority in all education and development strategies,” he added.

UNDP, with the generous support of the European Union and USAID, is committed to investing in the revitalization, stabilization and development of FATA to bring it at par with the rest of Pakistan. We are working with the Government, sister UN agencies, civil society and the private sector to break the vicious cycle of poverty through education and skills development.
