Time for FATA people to unite on single point agenda of merger with KP: Pervaiz Khattak
PESHAWAR, 8 November: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak has said a decision has been taken in principle to extend the jurisdiction of Peshawar High Court (PHC) to FATA instead of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), but only one politician is not willing to accept this proposal.
Addressing a Jirga of All FATA Political Alliance at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar on Tuesday, the chief minister said it is the need of the hour that all the tribal population unite on the one-point agenda of FATA-KP merger for quick implementation of the reforms package. He said delay in implementation of reforms will benefit a specific conspirator group which wants to pursue personal interests.
Mr Khattak urged the tribal youth to play active role in the reforms process and keep their elders united, otherwise they will end up regretting the missed opportunity in the future. He said the tribal people offered countless sacrifices for stability and development of the country. He said time has come to give FATA people reward of their sacrifices. He regretted that the federal government was delaying the reforms implementation unnecessarily.
The chief minister said the KP government fully supports the reforms process. He said the demands of merger with KP, abolition of the Frontier Crimes Regulation, provision of basic rights, 10-year development package and representation in the KP Assembly are fully justified.
FATA Political Alliance president Sardar Khan while addressing the Jirga thanked the chief minister over expressing support for FATA-KP merger. He hoped that the KP government will continue to support the proposal of merger.
