Teachers appointed through NTS in KP to stage sit-in outside Imran Khan’s house today
PESHAWAR, 29 October: Teachers appointed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through National Testing Service (NTS) will stage a sit-in in front of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s residence in Banigala, Islamabad today (Sunday) against non-acceptance of their demand of regularisation.
The protesting teachers said the provincial government has made several promises with them, but they don’t seem to be sincere in fulfilment of their promises. They said they had no option but to stage sit-in in front of Imran Khan’s house when the demand of regularisation of 40,000 teachers appointed through the NTS was not fulfilled through any other mean.
Rasheed Ahmed, leader of teachers from Katlang, Mardan, told TNN that the NTS teachers also face stoppage of salaries due to which they face many problems.
“They renew our contracts every year and payment of our salaries gets late due to renewal process. The appointment of NTS teachers is also non-transferable. Male teachers can manage even long travelling on daily basis, but women teachers suffer a lot in such circumstances. We will stay here in front of Imran Khan’s house till acceptance of our demands,” he said.
Meanwhile, district education officer Swabi has issued notices to all the government schools and directed all the teachers to ensure their attendance at schools despite a holiday on Sunday. The EDO said the deputy commissioner will visit different schools in connection with the sanitation campaign due to which the presence of teachers was required. However, the teachers have refused to come to schools and termed the notice a step to foil the Banigala sit-in.
