South Waziristan administration starts payment of scholarship to students
WANA, 9 September: The political administration of South Waziristan Agency has released annual scholarship for the students.
An official at the political agent’s office said the administration has started payment of scholarship after release of funds by the FATA Secretariat. He said the university students will get Rs6,000, while the college students will get Rs5,000.
Shah Faisal, a student of Gomal University, told TNN that the amount of scholarship was very low and it was paid after a long delay.
“The amount released now is still insufficient as it did not include Rs13.5 million amount for the students of session 2015-16. This amount should also be released to help the poor students,” he said.
The payment of political scholarship to students was suspended for the last two years. The students had staged a protest last month in front of political compound in Tank over not receiving scholarship.
