Restoration of 3G service sought in Landikotal
LANDIKOTAL, 09 August: Students and social activists in LandiKotal subdivision of Khyber Agency have staged a protest demonstration organized by Khyber Youth Forum against the suspension of 3G internet service in the agency on Tuesday.
The protesters said that access to information was the right of every citizen under the Article 19-A of the constitution, but the residents of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were deprived of this basic right.
A protestor named as Amir Afridi told TNN, “Everyone knows that internet is used to apply for admission in educational institutions and jobs in this digital world.
We had access to 3G internet service which has been suspended for the past two months. Access to information is the constitutional right of every citizen and the suspension of the service has badly affected our lives”.
The residents of Landikotal were compelled to travel to Peshawar even for sending a single email and connecting to friends and relatives in and out of country through online social platforms, the protesters described the inconvenience caused by the suspension of the internet.
They threatened to stage a sit-in outside the Governor House on August 14, if the service was not restored by then.
