PESHAWAR, 12 April: The Peshawar Regi Lalma residents on Wednesday staged protest demonstration against the sale of their land to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
The protesters gathered outside Peshawar press club and said that some influential people had sold their 7200 kanal land in Regi Lalma to DHA without consulting them. They said that these people are now trying to displace them which is injustice. They said that the district administration has also suspended water supply to them causing severe problems to them.
They demanded of the government to take them into confidence and make a decision in this regard. They also demanded action against the people who are involved in illegally selling their land to DHA.
The DHA Peshawar had initiated its first housing scheme in Regi Lalma.
A protester Sameen Jan told TNN, the elders including Ghulam Nabi, Latif Ali, Wahid Gul, and Kiramat Ullah who allegedly carried out corruption in the sale of Regi Lalma land to DHA. “We do not accept the deal of selling our land to DHA. The police destroyed our residences and also detain 18 persons from us. We demand of the government to arrest the people involved in this fraud,” he added.
