PESHAWAR, 09 February: Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that the Fata reforms committee has agreed to mainstream the federally administered tribal areas instead of merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking to media after attending lawyers’ convention in Peshawar, Maulana Fazl said that the Fata reforms committee has accepted his demand to replace the word merger with mainstream. “Fata reforms committee agrees to expunge the word merger and replace it with mainstreaming the tribal areas,” he said. Further Maulana Fazl said that the reforms committee has also agreed to accept the JUI-F demand to complete the IDPs repatriation process in five years. He said that JUI-F had demanded of the federal government to initiate development works in every agency and develop the tribal areas equal to the other parts of the country. “After developing the tribal areas the government shall decide the future status of Fata,” he said.
Maulana Fazl said that JUI-F has agreed to bring reforms to Fata following thorough consultations with tribal people instead of referendum. He claimed that the Fata reforms committee new report would be approved during the next meeting of federal cabinet.
However, the federal government and Fata parliamentarians and other people who are making efforts for reforms have not given their point of view in this regard.
