WANA, September 14: The political administrations of South Waziristan Agency seemed to be least bothered to pay heed to demands of tribal elders who have been losing their near and dears to planted landmines. So far around 50 persons including children are killed in landmines blasts.

Tribal elders on Thursday reiterated their demanded of the political administration to clear all land mines that were killing their children.

The demand was made at a Jirga convened by tribal elders where a large number of locals were present and asked governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take notice of the issue.

The elders criticized the political administration of the agency for not taking any steps to locate and defuse the landmines.

The elders said that that landmines have been killing innocent people, adding that several persons including children were killed and rendered disabled across the agency.

They asked the security forces and political administration to clear the mines or else they would launch protest drive and would protest on daily basis outside Parliament House in Islamabad as well as embassies.

Meanwhile, Chairman State and Frontier Regions (Safron) Maulana Jamaluddin from the agency also demanded of the government to approve special fund for the victims of landmines. He said that 50 persons were killed only in SWA and claimed that there were around 10,000 landmines in Mehsud area of the agency.
