Police, Army called as IJT, PSF students clash at Gomal University in D. I. Khan
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, 22 March: The Gomal University administration summoned police, FC, and Pakistan Army personnel to control a clash between two student groups here on Wednesday.
According to reports, students belonging to the Islami Jamiat Taliba (IJT) had planned to hold a talent show at the Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan. However, the Pakhtoon Students Federation (PSF) students were against the show and were adamant to prevent the event. The IJT students have clashed with PSF students in Punjab University yesterday (Tuesday) where the PSF students were holding a cultural event.
Owing to the clash between the PSF and IJT students, the university administration rescinded the permission given to IJT students for their talent show. However, the IJT students ignored the university administration’s instructions and went ahead with their planned event.
In order to avoid any untoward incident, the university administration called Police, FC and the Pakistan Army on campus to maintain law and order. Although, the security forces were present on campus, PSF students continued to disrupt the talent show and eventually, the police resorted to baton charging the students to disperse them.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here, a day earlier, the students of PSF and IJT clashed at the Punjab University in Lahore. The clash left 18 students injured.
