PESHAWAR, 9 March: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered the Sui Gas Department to ensure gas supply to NA-13 constituency of Swabi within a month.

A two-member bench of the PHC headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi issued this order on a contempt petition filed by Member National Assembly Aqibullah, brother of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.

Sabitullah Khan, lawyer of the petitioner, said the court had earlier ordered gas supply for the area, but the federal government was not willing to implement the court’s order which amounts to contempt of court.

The federal government’s lawyer assured the court that gas will be provided to the area soon.
