Peshawari chappals selling like hot cakes as Eid draws closer
PESHAWAR, 9 July: As the holy month of Ramazan is heading towards its end and Eidul Fitr is drawing closer, a large number of people are coming to bazaars in the provincial metropolis to buy the much sought-after hand-made Peshawari chappal.
The markets of Namakmandi, Mochi Lara, Jehangirpura and Sikandarpura, which are popular for Peshawari chappal, are witnessing a large number of visitors of every age to buy their favourite footwear. The visitors said ‘Captain Chappal’, a new brand of Peshawari chappal liked by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, is also selling like hot cakes nowadays despite having price ranging from Rs4,000 to Rs20,000.
“Peshawari chappals are part of our old culture. We have come here to the market to select from the attractive designs put on display in showcases of chappal shops. I have also brought my children to buy chappals which are durable and affordable,” a citizen who came to buy Peshawari chappals told TNN.
“I have come here to buy chappals for myself and children. My kids will be very happy to get chappals on the occasion of Eid,” another customer said.
