Payment of compensation to affectees of CPEC in Battagram starts
BATTAGRAM, 6 April: The payment of compensation to the people affected by the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project in Battagram started on Thursday.
A meeting in this regard was held at the office of the deputy commissioner on Wednesday which was attended by the project director, collector, deputy commissioner, officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA), district council members and provincial minister APl-Haaj Yousaf Khan Tarand. District Nazim Attaur Rehman Tarand briefed the meeting on problems of people affected by CPEC project. He said the affectees have not received compensation for their fertile lands and houses which came under CPEC.
The project organisers said at the meeting that payment of compensation to the affectees will begin Thursday (today). They said compensation for houses will be paid in the first phase, while compensation for lands will be paid in the second phase.
The district nazim and provincial minister told the affectees after the meeting that they will personally ensure payment of compensation to them.
