Only six out of 16 companies’ milk fit for consumption
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain on Tuesday informed the National Assembly that only six milk companies out of 16 companies in the country provide pure fit for consumption milk adding that stringent measures are being taken against adulteration of milk.
In his written reply to a question regarding supply of toxic milk during National Assembly session, the minister informed that after conducting tests on 16 brands of packaged milk given Ultra High Temperature (UHT) and pasteurization treatment, the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) has found that only six are safe for consumption. The six brands found fit for consumption include Olper, Nestle, Milk Pak, Day Fresh, Good Milk and Nurpur Original. Whereas, Haleeb Full Cream contains formalin and cane sugar which was declared unsafe.
Similarly, samples from 10 brands of pasteurized milk were also examined only Prema Milk was found safe for consumption. Whereas, adulteration was found Anhar Milk, Daily Dairy, Doce Milk, Gourmet Milk, Nurpur, Nutrivi, Al-Fajar, Accha Milk and Adams.
