Lahore to host PSL 2017 final on March 5
PESHAWAR, 27 February: The final of the second edition of the lucrative Pakistan Super League will be staged in Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium, announced Najam Sethi, chairman of the league while briefing media in Lahore on Monday.
The approval to host the final match was given in a meeting chaired by chief minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore. As per media reports, the meeting, which lasted for two hours and attended by representatives of different organizations, overviewed possibilities of hosting the mega event in Pakistan.
Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif told the meeting that stringent arrangements would be made for the security of players and public. He said the decision to host the final of the PSL in Lahore was taken in best interest of the country.
According to Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah, the final match would start at about 4:30pm in the evening and the concluding ceremony would continue till 11pm.
PSL chairman Najam Sethi said that tickets for the final match would be made available to the public from Tuesday. He announced that tickets would be available in four categories, i.e., Rs 500, Rs 4,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 12,000.
The PSL final is schedule to be held on March 5.
Even before the start of the league on February 9 in Dubai, the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shehryar Khan had said that the final match would be played in Lahore. However, a series of suicide bomb blasts in different cities of Pakistan which claimed more than 100 lives, casted shadows of uncertainty on holding the event in Lahore.
Following the development, Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also assured the cricket authorities of making foolproof security arraignments for the match.
