KP irrigation department extends canals’ closure for 10-days
PESHAWAR, 08 February: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa irrigation department on Wednesday extended the date for closure of canals for 10-days and announced that water will be released in canals on February 21 instead of February 11.
According to a statement released by the provincial irrigation department, during the extended period canals cleanliness and all other issues will be resolved for which water release into canals was suspended.
It is pertinent to be mention here that the irrigation department every year shut canals from 1 January to 1 February. However, this year on the request of farmers and prolong dry spell the government closed canals with 10-days delay. Now the government has extended the closure of canals for 10 more days.
