JAMRUD, 29 August: The people affected due to military operations in Khairba and Kandao Gharbai areas in Khyber Agency have not been registered so far due to which they have not received any aid from the government.
Elders of these tribes told media persons at Jamrud Press Club that they were displaced from their homes in 2013, but they have not been registered so far. The elders said they have not got the status of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) or any financial assistance from any quarter.
The elders said about 2,500 families from the area were displaced after Operation Khyber-2 and they are still waiting for government assistance. They demanded the government to give them status of TDPs, provide financial assistance to them and make arrangements for their repatriation to their native areas.
“We did not get the status of TDPs and no one came to us for financial assistance due to which we are facing a very difficult situation. The government should conduct survey of our damaged homes and compensate the affected people,” a tribal elder said.
