Girl injured over matrimonial dispute dies at hospital

PESHAWAR: A girl who, was injured by a man before committing suicide over rejection of his marriage proposal, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital on Tuesday night.

Police said Brekhna, a dancer by profession, was under treatment at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar where she succumbed to her injuries. Ali Akbar Afridi on Tuesday went to the house of Brekhna in Kakshal area of Peshawar and proposed her for marriage. However, Brekhna’s father Hazrat Umar rejected the proposal after which Ali Akbar got infuriated and killed Hazrat Umar with a sharp-edged weapon. Brekhna was also injured while trying to save her father after which Ali Akbar committed suicide.

Brekhna was taken to hospital for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries.
