Four police officials including SHO accused of torturing suspect to death suspended
MANSEHRA, 07 March: A Station House Officer (SHO), and three other police officials were suspended on Tuesday following protest demonstration by the family of a suspect, wo was allegedly died at hospital after police torture.
According to DPO Ahsan Saifullah, the Balakot Police Station SHO Sajjad Tanuli, Investigation Officer Ali Akbar, and two other constables were suspended and FIR have been lodged against them for allegedly torturing the arrested suspect to death.
As per details, a suspect identified as Ghulam Hussain died at the Ayub Medical Complex allegedly police torture while in police custody.
Subsequently, his family blocked Shah Risham Road Mansehra, demanding that murder cases should be registered against the police officers responsible. According to them, Husain suffered multiple fractures after he was subjected to third-degree torture during physical remand in custody. After remaining in the intensive care unit for six days, he succumbed to his injuries, added his relatives.
Following the allegations and protest, DPO suspended the SHO, Investigative Officer and two constables and registered an FIR against them.
Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully after police assurance that justice would be done.
