Ex-PM asks government to merge Fata in KP
TIMERGARAH, 07 May: Former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has asked the federal government to immediately merge Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a public gathering here on Sunday, the former premier said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has given identity to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by renaming the province, adding had they were in power, they would be merged Fata in KP.
He added that the previous government of PPP had completed a number of developmental schemes in Dir Lower and Upper including establishment of a university, colleges and provision of gas facility.
He further said that his government provided every possible relief to 2.5 million inhabitants of Malakand division who left their homes due to the military operation in 2009, adding the government left no stone unturned to repatriate them to their homes with dignity and honor.
It merits a mention here the former President and co Chairman of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari was scheduled to address the public gathering but he could not attend the event due to security reasons. Other central and local leaders of PPP were also present on the occasion.
