Chitral flood affectees still waiting for govt aid

CHITRAL 19 December: People of certain villages of district Chitral who were devastated by flash floods in July last are still waiting for government aid.
Kargan and Chonch villages, which located alongside the River Chitral were badly affected by the last summer’s floods. People were displaced while their properties and standing crops were affected.
“Neither the provincial government nor the federal government bothered to enquire about us,” complained a villager while talking to TNN. He said they did not get a penny from the government or any national or international NGO.
These people also demanded of the government to build embankments on either side of the river to mitigate damages and control flooding in future.
