4.6m kids to be vaccinated during three-day polio drive in KP, Fata
PESHAWAR, 29 October: The Health Department has finalized all arrangements to launch three-day polio drive in thirteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and throughout Fata.
According to Emergency Operation Center, around one million children in tribal areas alone would be vaccinated against the crippling disease.
Officials at the center said that 4317 teams would launch a door-to-door campaign to administer polio vaccines throughout seven agencies of tribal areas.
A statement issued here said that strict security measures have been put in place to ensure safety of teams who would vaccinate children far-flung mountainous areas.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the drive would be launched in Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Karak, Kohat, Hangu, DI Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and Peshawar.
It said that 3.6 million children in the thirteen districts would be given anti-polio drops including Afghan refugees’ children in camps below five years of age.
It merits a mention here that only one case has been reported this year while not a single case has been reported since July last year.
